Do I need a smartphone or any device?
No. Unlike WhatsApp, Telegram works through the official Bot API rather than through a "linked device". There is no QR code to scan, no bridge device, and no phone number that can get disconnected. Your bot is a first-class Telegram entity, and it is the one that joins the channels and groups. Everything reaches you by email, on whatever device you already use: a kosher phone or a filtered computer.
What makes Kosher Telegram kosher?
Every channel or group the bot joins enters the system muted. Nothing is sent to your inbox until you approve that source manually in the conversations screen. In addition, the system forwards text only; it does not download or send images, videos or media files from Telegram. Because Telegram is far more open than WhatsApp, the approve-every-source mechanism is exactly what makes it kosher: you see only what you chose to see.
How do I connect the bot? Is it complicated?
It takes under two minutes and you do it yourself. In Telegram, open a chat with @BotFather, send /newbot, pick a name, and receive a token (a long string). Can I reply from email back to Telegram?
Yes. A normal email reply is sent back to the Telegram chat through your bot. The conversation stays one conversation; you simply manage it from your inbox.

What happens on Shabbat and festivals?
Shabbat mode is built in and on by default: from the start of Shabbat until it ends, no email is sent, according to that week's Shabbat times. Anything received during Shabbat waits and is delivered automatically once Shabbat is out. There is nothing for you to configure.
Is this an official Telegram service?
Kosher Telegram is an independent Kesher Kasher service and is not an official Telegram service. That said, the connection is made through Telegram's official Bot API, the built-in, documented route Telegram itself provides to developers. Your bot is a Telegram bot in every respect.
